Merritt Heating & Air was founded nearly 20 years ago by Gary Merritt, who built the business on a foundation of integrity, hard work, and strong relationships with his customers. As Blount County and the surrounding areas have grown, so has the Merritt team.
Today, our dedicated team of three remains committed to keeping our community’s heating and air systems running reliably, while continuing to provide the same quality service and relationship-driven approach that has defined us from the beginning. Meet Derek Hunt
Continuing the Merritt Legacy
Derek Hunt brings a lifelong commitment to people, leadership, and excellence to Merritt Heating & Air. After many years in education, where he was known by many as the head football coach at Maryville High School, Derek is stepping into a new role as a business owner, carrying with him the same values that defined his career in the classroom and on the field.
Throughout his time in education, Derek built his reputation on relationships, trust, and high expectations. He believes success starts with investing in people, whether that’s students, athletes, or now, customers. That philosophy remains at the core of Merritt Heating & Air.
As the proud owner, Derek is committed to delivering more than just quality HVAC service. He is focused on creating a customer experience rooted in integrity, reliability, and genuine care. Every interaction reflects his belief that doing the job right and treating people right is what matters.
